Smart Air: Hospital Air Quality
A simulated monitoring path from gas readings to a hospital dashboard.
Built a Proteus and Raspberry Pi simulation for monitoring and maintaining air quality in hospitals. Recorded gas readings were sent to the simulated device over serial communication, forwarded through MQTT to Azure IoT Hub, and visualized in Power BI.
The physical sensors were not available in the simulator, so a recorded dataset played their role. That constraint made the data path visible without pretending the project was a deployed hospital system.
The path through the system
A Python process combined the recorded gas readings and sent them over a virtual serial connection to the Raspberry Pi simulation. The device passed the readings through MQTT to Azure IoT Hub, where they could be processed and displayed.
The useful part
The project connected hardware behavior, data transport, cloud messaging, and visualization in one small system. It made the difference between a sensor reading and a dashboard clear.
